[synopsis] => A Western girl moves east and is negatively influenced by her snobby fiancé. She returns to sell her deceased father's ranch. Little does she know that her father is actually alive and hopes that his friend Roy can help revive her authentic Western values.

1944 American Musical Western Film

Rancher John Barrabee is upset that his daughter Joan doesn't want to stay in the West; instead, she is a New York City nightclub singer engaged to marry shady playboy Rollo Bingham. Traveling back west, Barrabee's plane makes an emergency landing in Nevada and awaits another airplane that brings them parts needed to repair the aircraft. Barrabee wanders off and meets trail boss Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers. Happy he is back roping and riding with fellow cowboys, he misses his plane's departure, and joins Roy in droving cattle. After the cattle drive, Barrabee discovers he is presumed dead as his plane crashed with no survivors. Barrabee uses the opportunity to get Roy to straighten out his daughter. He gives Roy a job on his ranch and sends him to New York to bring Joan back. Roy pretends to be a wealthy rancher and impresses Joan with his singing and charm. He also exposes Rollo's scheme to swindle Joan out of her inheritance. Joan agrees to go back with Roy but is still reluctant to embrace the Western lifestyle. She plans to sell her father's ranch and return to New York. However, when she arrives at the ranch, she is surprised to see her father alive and well. Will Joan embrace the West or will she deny her roots forever?
