Description
Come on in! Don't be shy. Bizarre, hilarious and just plain gross moments are waiting inside Sports Hall of Weird. From yucky bathroom accidents and crows hungry for golf balls, to cursed teams, haunted stadiums and spectacular losers, this Hall's got it all. Find out why some hockey fans throw an octopus on the ice for good luck. How the hand of God might have decided a soccer game. How a dead guy got drafted ... all this and a lot more is immortalized in Sports Hall of Weird! The naked truth: sometimes fans run on the field naked. They're known as streakers. Usually they streak outdoors, where it's warm. But one fan stripped at a Calgary Flames hockey game. His name was Tim Hurlbut, and he was planning to hurl his butt onto the ice surface. He stripped down to his red socks as his fellow fans watched in amazement. Then he leapt for the glass, red socks blazing, and got caught on the glass, fell on his head and knocked himself out cold. Hurlbut revived just as medical staff were carrying him off on a stretcher. He raised his arms in celebration. Police charged him with mischief. One foxy thief: foxes are known as crafty animals, and one fox in Sweden almost ruined a golf tournament. The fox would sneak out onto the course and steal as many balls as it could get. It was apparently collecting food for the winter and thought the golf balls were bird eggs. (Imagine the fox's disappointment when it actually bit one.) Golfers were worried they'd lose strokes for each ball the fox stole. Tournament organizers eventually allowed the golfers to just play another ball -- with no penalty strokes.
